Mission
Statement

With the completion of the
1998 Historic Legislative Session, the Republican
Party of Maui is inaugurating the first of many
newsletters and launch of our web site. I take
this opportunity to welcome you to this
"call to action" and extend a big
mahalo to all the new people. Many of you will be
attending the Republican State Convention on May
15th and have crossed over to the right side,
because you support our Maui Mayor Linda Lingle
for governor in this 1998 campaign. Mahalo Nui
Loa.
I want to also encourage
your participation in the Republican agenda, you
people who want to be part of moving our state
forward with new leadership and direction. Let me
offer additional reasons for joining the
Republican movement.
For 39 years the Republican
Party of Hawaii has been a struggling minority.
This Legislative session was historic in that
when House Minority Leader Quentin Kawananakoa
drew a "line in the sand" on tax
increases in his address to the
Legislatures opening session, he expressed
the hearts and minds of the majority of the
working citizens of this state. Up until this
time, the voice of the people has not been
listened to. Now the old guard has been served
notice... the Era of Tax and Spend is OVER!
This fact was proven in this session just as
it will be proven in November. The total
dominance of a one party system has meant that
constructive legislation will not be heard in
committee, let alone be voted upon. So another
reason for joining today's Republican Party, is
to bring equity and balance into our state
governmental process.

This session marks
a new beginning whereby the voice of the people
will be heard which is the heart and essence of
the Republican Agenda. The Republican platform - www.hawaiigop.org/plat1.html best represents the wealth and
prosperity of all its citizenry.
A prosperous community is one in which all its
citizenry benefit, not one sector at the expense
of the other.

This is the beginning of
a learning process in which all the people of
Hawaii are invited to participate. With 40%
turnout at the polls, our government is suffering
from a system of citizenry neglect. Actually the
citizenry already knows the ills of our
misdirected government leadership. The time has
come to speak out.
This paper is meant to be a
tool, a vehicle for implementing change - a forum
of the people.
To that end this on line
means of communication is so dedicated.
Candidates and their
platforms will be presented here.
Study them, understand
them, demand accountability from them. Become
informed on the issues and make a wise decision
this November - your future and that of your
children depend on it.
Feel free to use the
various means of feedback to us and we will grow
into a major distribution point of news and
issues vital to democracy in general and our
state in particular.
